As patients are becoming more acute, traditional IRF patients are being placed into SNFs. Patients that are admitted to IRFs have the luxury of a PM&R trained physician, and we believe that rehab patients admitted to SNFs should have that resource as well. We want to give every rehab patient the best chance to obtain their maximum level of functioning to give them the best quality of life. Physiatry for rehab patients in the SNF setting should not be reserved only for larger cities.
